Server Phone Setup Guide¶

Welcome to the Server Phone Setup Guide. This documentation walks you through setting up an Android phone as a dedicated server phone for sending and receiving payment-related SMS messages through the TeleTalk gateway.

A server phone runs TeleTalk in the background to automatically send and receive SMS messages on behalf of your organization. It must remain powered on and connected to the internet at all times.

What is a Server Phone?¶

A server phone is a dedicated Android device that acts as an SMS gateway. It runs the TeleTalk app to send and receive text messages (such as payment confirmations and notifications) using the SIM card inserted in the phone.

Key responsibilities:

Send SMS — automatically sends payment notifications, confirmations, and alerts to customers.
Receive SMS — captures incoming messages (e.g. payment confirmations) and forwards them to your system.
Always On — runs continuously in the background so no messages are missed.

Before You Begin¶

Make sure you have the following ready:

Requirement	Details
Android Phone	Android 10 or higher (Samsung phones are highly recommended)
Internet Connection	Wi-Fi or mobile data with a reliable SIM card
Power Source	The phone must stay plugged in and charging at all times
SIM Card	Active SIM card for sending and receiving SMS
TeleTalk APK	Provided by your administrator
Login Credentials	Email and password provided by your administrator
